.... and once you're at the KH, they'll often place signs on the last two rows of seats "to save these for the families with small children" (that's the case at the local KH where I live. What's next for the flock ... cattle prods?

Our Kingdom Ministry 2009 tells sick & infirm NOT to view telephone hook-up as convenient alternative to being “personally present” at KH!
by LUKEWARM ini am feeling sick after reading the question box - it's so cold and unfeeling toward those who use the telephone to listen to congregation meetings.. .
the wts desire to control their weakest members - the infirm and chronically ill - by guilting them into "putting forth the effort to be personally present " at the kingdom hall is disgusting.. .
they are heartless bastards.... ________________________________________.

Reflections on Circuit Assembly - Satan's gonna get you!
by sir82 inhad our ca recently.. others have posted on the program contents in other posts here, so i won't do that here.. but i was struck by something over the 2 days of mindless repetition and out-of-context scriptural quotations: the number of times "satan" was referenced.
he was easily the 2nd-most referenced bible character, after jehovah of course, but far outpacing jesus, paul, david, etc.. "don't view porn, because you'll make satan happy..." "satan wants you to fail..." "satan is doing everything in his power to destroy your family..." "satan has succeeded in causing some brothers to give up..." "satan.....satan....satan....satan!!!".
virtually every talk included something about how satan is just waiting to do something perfectly revolting, to us personally.. i imagine this topic is covered at virtually every assembly, but this time for some odd reason, it really struck me.. what do you suppose the effect of all these "satan is going to get you!

Hubby is Researching 607...
by cognac inwould you say that's the beginning of the end?
hubby's researching if the beginning date can be proven from the bible its starting date is 607. clearly, he won't find the answer.... here's hoping he will see the light... .

With all due respect, why strain to disabuse Scholar, et al, who've wrapped themselves in the comforting delusion that the entire 607 BCE/Gentile Times exercise holds the key to understanding God's timetable? There's more than enough evidence of the Society's backtracking of the related 1914 date and "this generation" to undermine the entire premise.

Could the GB Perceive Preaching As Worthless?
by metatron inwe're seeing a lot of changes that suggest that a drift in attitude may be occuring in regard to the "preaching" work.
the latest info on having (real) love for your neighbor(i.e.
charity) is just more of the same.. they cut literature, magazines - and distribution of magazines and pray, pray, pray and still the donations don't come in to allow them to do what they want.

Add me to the list of the perplexed..... what indications are there that JWs should develop a social conscience and get involved in social activism or individual acts of charity, benevolence, etc.?

Comments from an elder judt returning from Elders' School
by Room 215 ina good friend and long-time elder just back from patterson, asked me what i thought is he most prevalent problem elders are facing today....told him i had no idea.... he said "pornography" by far the most vexing problem for them... hard to believe, no?.
-
Room 215
To clarify.... The point my friend was making was that pornography was a congregation-wide problem, not necessarily among just the elders, although it would include them

Could WTS Become a Mainstream Religion?
by OnTheWayOut ini read threads about reform and needed changes.
i don't like the idea.
i personally think that a harmful dangerous mind-control cult should not find some way to moderate slightly to keep their membership.

To me it will become a matter of spiritual Darwinism; they either adapt or die. The inexorable passage of time is eroding their chronological foundation; their cries of "soon" and "very soon" sound more hollow with each passing day. What's "soon-to-arrive" is the centenary of the Kingdom's birth in heaven --- and there must be no little discomfort at HQ as to how to explain this one. The on thing they can't do it to let it pass unnoticed in hopes the JWs won't notice. Already, it appears they're subtly distancing themselves from the whole "Gentile Times" calculation and counting the collecive amnesia of their flock.

Thanks, Blondie, Mary and all contributors. I marvel at the impressive disdain with which they leapfrog over the intervening 18 centuries from apostolic times, shunting aside the contributions of men like Luther, Erasmus, Wycliffe, etc. on "fast forward" the the 19th century. Yet, there are references in WT literature to "the 1900-year-old faithful and Discreet Slave"

What will the JW religion be like in 2015?
by JimmyPage inover 100 years into the reign of christ and six more years of damage from the internet.

what do you envision?.

Thier biggest challenge right now is to concoct a reasoned rationalization for the delay beyond the centenary milestone year; it's going to strain their creativity to the limit, if it already hasn't done so. I imagine what will happen is a promotion of the same kind of collective amnesia they fostered when 1975 proved a dud.
